Nothing makes you feel more like a king than signing for a new club with over zealous fans. Wesley Sneijder finally ended the transfer saga by joining Galatasary, got paraded around with his new club’s shirt, causing something close to a riot by super passionate Galatasaray fans.
There’s a good chance that Senijder is the most high-profile player ever to sign with the Turkish champions, who are also leading the Super-Lig after 18 matches. Getting a chance to show his face in a Galatasaray shirt to the public, peeking out of a jeep, Sneijder was soon mobbed by fans who broke through the police lines to touch, hug and kiss their newest idol.
Sneijder had a long time to think about finding a new club, hardly playing this season for Inter, a club he helped win the Champions League in 2010. He had offers from England, but Sneijder expected huge wages. Inter sold the player to Gala for €7.5 million, Sneijder signing on a 3.5 year contract.
Wesley Sneijder has played for Ajax, Real Madrid and Internazionale in his career, winning three league titles, one with each club, and the Champions League with Inter in 2010. He has been capped 90 times for the Netherlands, scoring 24 goals, and playing in the 2010 World Cup Final.
