Most rumors and links between teams and players come from the organizations themselves, but one in a while, someone like Ahmad Bradshaw actually stirs up the idea of a franchise signing him, directing some comments at the New York Jets, who are suddenly interested.

There’s not much the Jets can do this offseason due to their salary cap situation, but they have plenty of needs to fill. One of them might be at running back with Shonn Greene, their leading rusher last season (1063 yards, 8 touchdowns), who probably isn’t returning to the team, but also lacks the big-play ability the Jets are looking for.

And what about Bradshaw? After being released from the New York Giants, he wouldn’t mind staying in the city and playing “across the street.”

In playing with the Giants, they had mentioned that there was a chance for me to come back. I’m always up for that. Whatever, whoever needs me, whoever can use me. Whoever I feel that I can get a better chance of playing and helping which team. The New York Jets are a team that I’ve kinda been thinking about, just to stay home, not make a big move from New York. It’s just right across the street from where I am now.

Bradshaw did have some problems in 2011 with injuries that kept him from putting up impressive numbers, but on a healthy season, he’s more than ready to put up over 1000 yards, which he has done twice in the last three seasons, not to mention being a part of two Super Bowl winning teams, running for a total of 117 yards on 26 carries, including a touchdown, during his two trips to the NFL final with the New York Giants.

While the Jets’ first issue is probably solving their cap-space problem along with the questions they have regarding their quarterback(s) for the 2013 season, passing on an opportunity to sign Bradshaw and not working out their issues with the more expensive salaries they would like to re-structure or dump is going to be a real shame for a team badly needing play-makers on offense.
