A rather dull trade deadline in 2013, with a lot of big names mentioned in potential trades, but eventually the Houston Rockets sending Patrick Patterson to Sacramento for Thomas Robinson (and others) while the Orlando Magic sent J.J. Redick to the Milwaukee Bucks were the biggest moves of the last couple of days.

All the bigger names mentioned – Los Angeles Lakers with Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol; The Boston Celtics with any of their trio (Rondo, Garnett & Pierce) also didn’t make anything happen, and neither did the Atlanta Hawks, not managing to find a trading partner for Josh Smith.

Rockets – Kings

Houston were mostly trying to create more cap space for next season. They sent Patrick Patterson, who’s been with the team since 2010, averaging 11.6 points per game this season; Cole Aldrich, who is hardly been playing this season; and Toney Douglas, who’s been coming off the bench this season, averaging 8.6 points per game to the Sacramento Kings, for Francisco Garcia, who’s been with the Kings since 2005 and is averaging 5.6 points per game this season; Tyler Honeycutt, a second year player with virtually no playing time; and Thomas Robinson, the number 5 pick in 2012, averaging 4.8 points in 15.9 minutes per game this season.

The Rockets also made a deal with the Phoenix Suns, sending Marcus Morris, who has been averaging 8.6 points per game this season (second year), for the Suns second round draft pick in 2013. This puts the Rockets in very good position to go after a top free agent in a few months.

Heat – Grizzlies

The Miami Heat have been trying to add pieces to solidify a run for the title, but they’re also trying to create a bit of cap space by sending Dexter Pittman, who has played in only four games this season, and a second round draft pick to the Memphis Grizzlies for a trade exception and the draft rights to Ricky Sanchez, who is a draft pick from 2005 but is playing basketball in Puerto Rico.

Suns – Raptors

The Phoenix Suns, not going anywhere this season (and probably in the next couple of seasons), sent Sebastian Telfair, who is averaging 6 points and 2.5 assists in 17.5 minutes per game, to the Toronto Raptors. In return, they got Hamed Haddai, part of the three team trade with the Toronto Raptors that sent Rudy Gay to the Raptors, who has hardly played this season. The Raptors also sent a 2014 second-round draft pick to Phoenix.

Bucks – Magic

In a trade deadline without any blockbuster trades, J.J. Redick becomes the biggest name to be moved around. Redick averaged a career high 15.1 points per game this season for the Orlando Magic, was shipped to the Milwaukee Bucks along with Gustavo Ayon (3.6 points per game) and Ish Smith (2.4 points per game) for the services of Doron Lamb, hardly getting minutes this season, Beno Udrih (6.7 points per game) and Tobias Harris (4.9 points per game).

Tunder – Blazers

The Trail Blazers, suffering from a terrible bench this season, got point guard Eric Maynor, who’s waiting for a place he can get more than 10 minutes a night. The Thunder got a trade exception and rights to Georgios Printezis.

The Thunder made a deal with the Knicks a day later, getting Ronnie Brewer, who usually produces quite a lot when he gets more than 15 minutes a game. The Knicks got the 2013 second round pick and cash considerations.

Celtics – Wizards

There were a lot of talks about Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo or Paul Pierce, but eventually, the only players the Celtics sent away were Jason Collins, who got only 10 minutes a night with the C’s, and Leandro Barbosa, who can’t play against this season, and becomes a free agent at the end of the season. Washington sent Jordan Crawford, giving the Celtics a point guard they really needed – one who has been averaging 13.2 points per game so far this season.

Bobcats – Magic

Josh McRoberts, who played in 41 games, averaging 16.7 minutes per game, scoring 3.9 a night, was sent to the Charlotte Bobcats from the Orlando Magic, making it fifth NBA team since entering the league in 2007. In return, the Bobcats sent over Hakim Warrick, who was also traded from the New Orleans Hornets to Charlotte earlier this season.

Hawks – Mavericks & Suns

The Atlanta Hawks are going to lose Josh Smith to free agency after not managing to find a trading partner for the forward. They still made a couple of moves before the deadline – one was sending Anthony Morrow, who played in 24 games this season, averaging 5.2 points per game to the Dallas Mavericks. In return, they got Dahntay Jones, who averaged 3.5 points in 12.7 minutes per game this season for the Mavs. They also made a deal with the Suns, getting Jeremy Tyler, hardly playing this season, for cash considerations and a future draft pick.

76ers – Warriors

The Sixers were also mentioned in a few trades, but nothing really happened worth mentioning, except for sending a future draft pick to the Golden State Warriors for Charles Jenkins.
