Most transfer news regarding Brazil this season have been about Neymar, but he’s not the only player worth taking a look at. Antonio Carlos, the 19 year old defender from Corinthians, seems to be one who’s very intriguing to Manchester United, although not for something too immediate.
This isn’t something United want to press on right away. Currently, there isn’t any room for another full back on the team with Rafael commanding the right back position, while Patrice Evra still hangs to the left spot, with Buttner hot on his heels. United have been rumored to enter some sort of negotiations for the youngster, but it is more likely that they’ll wait at least another season in Brazil to see how he develops and handles a full year in the Brasileiro and his ability with the Brazil U-20 side before making a final move for him.
The Da Silva twins were brought from Fulminense before they ever played for the senior side, and while Rafael has eventually broke through and is overcoming his defensive problems as a first team regular for United, Fabio isn’t doing too well – loaned to QPR where he hasn’t been impressing too much.
Antonio Carlos isn’t the only Corinthians player attracting interest from the Premier League; Paulinho, the team’s midfielder and a big reason as to why they won the FIFA Club World Cup a few months ago in the final against Chelsea has attracted a lot of interest from the Blues and from Manchester City over the last six months, with Inter also hot on the tracks. Unlike Carlos, Paulinho is 24, and seems to be a bit more prepared to embark on his European adventure.
