Serge Ibaka Punches Blake Griffin in the Groin

It’s only cheating if you get caught – you know the drill. In a very physical game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Los Angeles Clippers, Serge Ibaka got away with one for now, as he punched Blake Griffin in the nuts while he and Kendrick Perkins were fighting with the player for position and avoided getting ejected from the game.

Ibaka did get called for the flagrant foul on the play, but it really should have been a flagrant 2, with the ball no where near the area of Blake Griffin’s balls. It’s true that Griffin gets a lot of criticism for flopping, often correctly, but there is no reason Ibaka shouldn’t be suspended for a couple of games without pay, maybe even more, for intentionally punching Griffin below the waist.

In basketball news, the Thunder won the game 108-104, with Kevin Durant scoring 35 points to lead the way. Ibaka finished with 16 points but only 3 rebounds on a rough night for him in the paint. The Thunder are now 43-16, second in the West, 3 games behind the San Antonio Spurs, but distance themselves from the Clippers, opening a 1.5 game lead on the team they just beat.

Some thought they gave the Heat too much respect; LeBron James getting too much respect from the players. Now, the Thunder might not be the baddest teams around, but they’re dirtier than their image, with players like Serge Ibaka swinging at the private areas of others. […]
