225 Francesco Totti Goals in Under an Hour

While it is debatable how big of place Francesco Totti has in the imaginary hall of fame of Italian football, his place with Roma as the team’s greatest player in history is cemented for what seems like decades to come. If you’re a numbers person that needs more convincing, there are the 225 goals he has scored for the team in the Serie A.

With 225, and a good chance to reach 230, Totti is now joint-second among the Serie A’s all time greatest goalscorers, soon to leave Gunnar Nordahl behind him, with Silvio Piola way ahead of the pack after scoring 274 goals in the top flight during his career.

Totti is by far the best scorer among active players, with the next player after him that is still playing is Antonio Di Natale of Udinese with 168. Totti owns pretty much every record available for AS Roma, with more appearances (665 in all competitions) than anyone else, over 200 than the next man on the list. In goalscoring, he has 279 in all competitions, more than twice than the player after him with 136. Totti is the only player in the last 27 years to win the Serie A scoring title for Roma.

He’s also the major part of the club’s only league title in the last 30 years, coming over a decade ago in 2000-2001. At the age of 36, Totti is still one of the more consistent scorers in Italy, with 10 goals this season so far, and scoring in double figures in 11 of the last 12 seasons.
