Regardless of what Louisville end up with in the NCAA Tournament, the most memorable moment of their run will be Kevin Ware breaking his leg and being carried off the court while teammates and head coach Rick Pitino can’t hold themselves back from shedding a tear in the face of a gruesome injury.
Ware, a Sophomore who just came on the floor with less than 7 minutes left in the first half, was jumping in order to try and block a Duke player from hitting a three pointer. Ware crashed badly out of bounds, and before you could spot the sight of his leg being all broken and torn, the reactions on the bench and of the players was enough to tell you that something terrible just happened on the court.
Ware was carried off, and the news tell us that he’ll be out for a year. Louisville went on to beat Duke 85-63, making it to their second consecutive Final Four.
