We’ve gotten used to seeing the Manchester Derby being about more than just pride and prestige over the last few years, but with Manchester United being so far ahead of Manchester City in the non-existent Premier League title race, pride and prestige is all that’s left to play for, and if you don’t know where to watch the best game English football has to provide, we’re here to help.
The last time the two teams have met was on December 9, when the title race wasn’t already decided. United led 2-0 after an early Wayne Rooney double, but Manchester City came back to make it 2-2 after goals by Yaya Toure and Pablo Zabalete. A foolish foul allowed Robin van Persie a free kick two minutes into injury time, giving United a 3-2 win, which was their signature win of the upcoming title.
For Manchester United, losing in the league is something they don’t really remember how to handle. The last time they lost in the Premier League was at Norwich on November 17, their third league defeat since the start of the season. Since then, it’s been an incredible run of 16 wins and 2 draws, not to mention not conceding a goal over the last six matches. Their top scorer this season is Robin van Persie with 19 goals in the league, but he hasn’t scored a league goal in nearly two months.
Manchester City have been far less consistent, winning their previous match 4-0 against Newcastle, but the difference between home & away form has been a thorn at their side, winning only once on their last four trips outside the Etihad stadium. Their top scorer this season is Edin Dzeko, who seemed to be doing much better earlier on in the season, when he was handling the Super-sub role.
