Don’t believe anyone yet expect anything is a common saying about many subjects, including the world of football and its abundance of transfer rumors. While Manchester United will probably be looking for new and expensive strikers and centre backs during the summer, Alex Ferguson is adamant that both Chicharito and Rio Ferdinand, opposed to the constant ramblings suggesting their departure, aren’t leaving the club anytime soon.

While there are more pressing things at the moment, more important regarding the present, like beating Aston Villa in a match that could well decide that Manchester United will win the Premier League title for the 20th time, making it five over the past seven seasons, potentially setting a new record for points achieved in a season.

But there’s also the future to worry about, especially after another worrying early exit in the Champions League and the fact that regardless of how much Alex Ferguson insists, Manchester United version 2013.0 is one of his weakest sides to actually come through and claim a title or two, despite the star power in Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney.

The recent talk has been of adding Falcao through a record-deal from Atletico Madrid, which will surely mean that someone from the foursome of Van Persie, Rooney, Hernandez and Danny Welbeck will have to leave in order to create some room. While Rooney is a popular name in recent weeks (for a second time this season), Chicharito is probably the most popular choice to leave if you do a survey among fans, asking them about the identity of the striker that will be discarded.

There is no reason to think this is not the place for him. We hope he feels as though he has made a contribution. He has scored 16 goals. When he doesn’t score his movement and ability to create opening & chances for us is terrific. Hernandez has got these things in his locker all the time. His enthusiasm to play is always there.

Hernandez arrived from Chivas in 2010 for £8.5 million, scoring 48 goals in 109 matches since his arrival. He rarely starts for the team, which is the number one reason for people suggesting that he’ll be the first to leave if United add new strikers.

Rio Ferdinand is a different case of a player whose best is behind him, and his expiring contract and not yet reaching a new deal is enough to suggest his time with United, after almost 11 seasons and so far 424 appearances for the club, is almost over. While Ferdinand isn’t the stout and impassable defender he was in the past, his experience and up & down ability should be something most clubs beneath the Champions League caliber would be pleased with.

Once again, Ferguson thinks this one will end with Ferdinand playing for United, despite his interest in the likes of Ezequiel Garay and Angelo Ogbonna.

At this moment in time, he’s more concerned about getting opposition for his testimonial game. He’s working on that for the moment. We want him to stay and obviously I’m sure his representatives will be discussing things with David Gill. I wouldn’t imagine that moving abroad would be the best thing for him.
