Transfer Rumors 2013 – Manchester United Will Try to Sign Gareth Bale

Gareth Bale

There will be some serious cash splashing out of the Manchester United piggy bank in order to help the transition of David Moyes from small club to huge one, and one of the players he might be acquiring next season will be none other than player of the season, Gareth Bale, from Tottenham.

Spurs have no intention of selling him, as AVB made perfectly clear all season long, including right after United declared the changing of the guard at the managerial position, replacing Alex Ferguson with David Moyes. But, money and success have a funny way of changing the hearts of certain players, and not finishing in the top 4 for yet another season might be too much for Bale to overcome, and he’ll start pushing for a way out of the club.

United don’t have such problems, but they might face some when fighting for Bale’s services. While it is rare to see the top British players leaving the Premier League, Bale might be one of those who does get a chance to succeed with Real Madrid, who are very interested in him. However, some of that appeal has to do with Jose Mourinho and playing for him, and with the special one looking more and more like he’s as good as gone, staying in the UK might be in the cards for the Welshman.

Bale carried on his transformation from left back to left winger to something of a free player who operates a lot through the middle this season. He has already scored 20 league goals for Spurs, more than double his previous career record from last season, not to mention being quite prolific for the Welsh side in the World Cup qualifying, scoring four goals in the tournament so far.

To bring Bale over from Spurs will probably cost around £35-40 million at least. It’s something United are able to spend, but might prefer shelling out for more players instead of focusing all their transfer money on just one player. It also has to do with who leaves, Wayne Rooney being the first name on the list, and the one drawing the most interest at the moment. It’s safe to say that if Tottenham don’t make it into the Champions League, Bale won’t be sticking around for much longer, and as Robin van Persie proved last season, it’s very hard saying no to Manchester United, even if it’s David Moyes at the helm and not Alex Ferguson.
