From being a young kid in Rosario, to the biggest footballer in the world. Lionel Messi sat down with Audemars Piguet and talked about the defining moments of his career -though his childhood and falling in love with football, to becoming a player and later star with Barcelona and his hopes of one day lifting the World Cup with Argentina.
It’s part of some sort of advertising campaign by the luxury watches company, but it does reveal some moments and quotes from Messi that haven’t been heard before. He doesn’t offer a secret to his success (Champions League titles, La Liga Championships, the individual awards), but one thing he says does stick to your mind: I try to go out onto the pitch and enjoy it like I did when I was a boy.
Messi also mentions how important it was for him to become to receive the number 10 shirt at Barcelona, especially after playing alongside Ronaldinho who wore it on his back during his time with the club. The “failures” with Argentina are also something he addresses, in the form of his dream of one day lifting the World Cup trophy in the Albicelste uniform.
