It’s quite complicated, but things are slowly getting cleared up. Arsenal want Stevan Jovetic from Fiorentina, and might have finally agreed on a price for him. Jovetic is a childhood Juventus fan, but the Italian champions won’t be paying the kind of money La Viola are asking for him, so they turn their attention to Gonzalo Higuain (Real Madrid) and Javier Hernandez (Manchester United), but if the Jovetic deal doesn’t come through for the gunners, they might also try and sign Higuain.

Fiorentina don’t just want to avoid Jovetic going to a Serie A rival. That fact that it’s Juventus makes all that harder to see their star player, who has scored 26 goals over the last couple of seasons for the team, making a brilliant recovery from missing the entire 2010-2011 season, leave to one of their biggest rivals. However, they’re not willing to scrap a team that narrowly missed the Champions League, possibly due to some very dubious refereeing, for a low amount of cash.

Some suggested the deal will collapse as Fiorentina were asking for over €30 million for the Montenegro star, who usually plays as a second striker for both club & country, but the appearance of his agent in London over the last 24 hours suggests to everyone that the most recent offer Arsenal put in for the player, worth €29 million, might be enough to get him over to the Premier League.

If not? The options are known. Juventus will press harder to sign him, but if that kind of money wasn’t enough from Arsenal, I doubt it’ll be enough from Juve. All eyes will be turned to Gonzalo Higuain, who won’t be playing for Real Madrid next season, and comes in probably with a lower asking price but a lot more goals than Jovetic.

For Juventus, who are already bringing in Fernando Llorente from Athletic Bilbao, there’s always the option of Chicharito from Manchester United, although some have also been talking of Jackson Martinez from Porto.
