The All-NBA first team for 2013 features LeBron James (9th overall, 7th in first), Kevin Durant (4th overall, 4th in first), Chris Paul (5th overall, 3rd in first) but also two players who are among the most accomplished in the history of the game, and still going strong after so many years in the NBA: Tim Duncan and Kobe Bryant.

For Duncan, it was his 14th overall selection to an All-NBA team and a 10th to the first, appearing among the top 5 for the first time since 2007. Kobe Bryant has now featured in the All-NBA first team 8 times in a row, making it 11 times in the first (tied for the record) and 15 times overall, also tied for the all-time record.

Shaquille O’Neal (1993-2011), 14 Times

Shaquille O’Neal, a four-time NBA champions with the Los Angeles Lakers (2000-2002) and the Miami Heat (2005) is also a one time regular season MVP (2000) and three time Finals MVP, all with the Lakers. He made his first All-NBA team in 1994, selected to the third. In 1998 he made his first All-NBA first team, the first of 10 selections to the first team. His last first team selection was in 2006, and his last in general was for the third team in 2009, when he was playing for the Phoenix Suns.

Tim Duncan (1997 – Still Active), 14 Times

Tim Duncan has been with the San Antonio Spurs since leaving Wake Forest for the NBA in 1997. He is a two-time regular season MVP and a three-time Finals MVP, winning four NBA titles (1999, 2003, 2005, 2007). He made his first All-NBA team as a rookie in 1998, the first of 10 appearances in the first team. He earned his most recent first team selection in 2013, appearing among the elite group for the first time since 2007.

Karl Malone (1985-2004), 14 Times

Karl Malone, unlike the rest of the players on this list, isn’t an NBA champion, losing three times in the finals. He is a regular season MVP (twice, 1997, 1999) and out of his 14 All-NBA selections, he was on the first team 11 times. His first appearance on either was in 1988 on the second team, the last season before three All-NBA teams were voted for. A season later he was on the first team, and made his final appearance on an All-NBA team in 2001, on the third. His final appearance on the first team was in 1999.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1969-1989), 15 Times

Jabbar is a six time NBA champion; first with the Bucks (1971) and five more time with the Lakers (1980, 1982, 1985, 1987-1988). He is a six-time NBA MVP (1971-1972, 1974, 1976-1977, 1980) and a two-time Finals MVP (1971, 1985). He made his first All-NBA appearance (second team) in 1970 as a rookie, when he was still Lew Alcindor. He made the first team for the first time a year later, and made his final appearance on one of the All-NBA teams in 1986 as a first team selection, one his 10 first team appearances.

Kobe Bryant (1996 – Still Active), 15 Times

Kobe Bryant is a five-time NBA champion, all with the Lakers, the only team he’s ever played for (2000-2002, 2009, 2010). He won the regular season MVP award once (2007) and the Finals MVP award twice (2009, 2010). He made his first All-NBA team in 1999 as a third team selection. He was a first team selection for the first time in 2002, and his most recent selection, in 2013, was his overall record 15th and 11th for the first team, also tied for the record along with Karl Malone.
