Accidents happen, even in basketball, but sometimes they’re quite funny to watch, knowing no one seriously got hurt. Tim Duncan wanted to prevent Marc Gasol from using the bounce pass to find someone open under the basket, so he used his leg to block the play, and caused it to bounce back into the face of the Spanish center.
Had any effect on the game? Probably not. Gasol was, well, not good enough before and after. He finished with 16 points and 15 rebounds but on another bad shooting night (7-of-18 from the field), and his lane defense that was so effective up until this series against the San Antonio Spurs hasn’t been really imposing for the last three games.
For Tim Duncan, the oldest player in the series, it was another fantastic performance on both ends of the floor, scoring 24 points and adding 10 rebounds, leading the Spurs to a 104-93 win, taking a 3-0 lead in the series.
