It took Club America to stare at the depths of despair to climb out of it and somehow manage to win the Mexican title in the final against Cruz Azul, with the most incredible moment of the match being goalkeeper Moises Muñoz scoring a 93rd minute header to send the match into overtime, and later a penalty shootout which America won.

Down 1-0 from the first leg, America lost a player to a red card after 14 minutes, and went behind by another goal in the 20th minute, meaning they were 2-0 down on aggregate (no away goal rule mind you), leading to a very anxious and depressing 70 minutes.

Then, the comeback began. A minute from the end of regulation, Aquivaldo Mosquera scored a header off a corner kick to put America back in the match and send the stadium into raptures. Three minutes into overtime, came the moment goalkeepers dream about.

Moises Muñoz went up for the last chance corner, and via a diving header that clipped a Cruz Azul player along the way, scored the dramatic goal that sent the match into extra time and later penalties, won by America 4-2, claiming their 11th league title.
