Transfer Rumors 2013 – Manchester United Might Sell Nani to Galatasaray

It’s been widespread knowledge for almost a year that Manchester United are looking to offload their talented yet problematic Portuguese winger, Nani. After more than one unsuccessful attempt, the answer and salvation might reside with Galatasaray, the Turkish champions.

Galatasaray spent an impressive amount of money last season on making the team not just the best in Turkey, but also finish in the top 8 of the Champions League, giving Real Madrid quite a hard time in the quarterfinals. From the rumors coming from Istanbul and currently from Manchester, they’re not planning on settling for what they did last season or the players they brought.

Nani

Nani, turning 27 next season, was probably the best player on a United team that won the league title in 2011, but has shown a serious decline in his ability and attitude, both on and off the pitch, over the last couple of seasons, at least when playing for his club. His demands for an outrageously expensive contract and his behavior after his demands were shot down has led the brass at United to try and look for a quick departure, but Nani hasn’t made it easy by asking for the same demands from clubs he knew weren’t able to pay him that salary.

He featured in only 21 matches last season, scoring 3 goals and adding 5 assists. He returned to his ways of selfish dribbling and inconsistent commitment in his game, not to mention being one huge hole on the right wing when it came to defending. According to reports around Europe, Gala representatives are in Manchester trying to get a deal done for the player.

For a player who seemed to finally be on the right track once Cristiano Ronaldo left the club, Nani has turned out to be a disappointment, covered with a few brilliant performances here and there over the years, but someone whose ego has overcome his talent more often than not. Clubs like Manchester United, who live and die on team unity and squad cohesion, have no use when such a player turns to the dark side.
