NBA Rumors – Milwaukee Bucks Want to Draft Shane Larkin & Tim Hardaway Jr.

More likely than not, the Milwaukee Bucks are going to need and fill at least one of their starting guard positions next season, which is why they’ve invited both Shane Larkin and Tim Hardaway to their pre-draft workouts this weekend.

The Bucks get to pick 15th, and with very probable scenario of at least two of the three: Monta Ellis, Brandon Jennings and J.J. Redick not playing for the team next season, finding someone who can score is of an immediate importance.

Shane Larkin

Larkin, coming out of Miami after two seasons with the Hurricanes, averaged 14.5 points and 4.6 assists while shooting 40.6% from beyond the arc last season, his sophomore year in college. He is a 5’11 point guard who is more of a shooter than anything, and is projected to be selected midway through the first round.

Hardaway played three seasons for Michigan, averaging 14.5 points while shooting 37.4% from beyond the arc last season. He isn’t a very consistent shooter, but his size (6’6) can make him a very interesting option to add on the wing at both the shooting guard or the small forward position if necessary, although most think Hardaway is going to be a very late first round pick or even later, so he might be a bit of a reach, unless he impresses in his workouts.

There are other options the Bucks are thinking of if these two don’t work out: 19-year-old German Dennis Schroeder that might be a lottery pick for a team that really needs a point guard. The draft is a bit more abundant in shooters and scorers at shooting guard, with guys like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Shabazz Muhammad, Glen Rice Jr. or Allen Crabbe also filling that role if the top two options for the Bucks aren’t for the taking once they get to their pick.
