Transfer Rumors 2013 – Liverpool Will Sign Pedro Chirivella

Wonderkid prospects, even the unproven kind, are always an exciting signing, and it seems that Liverpool have gotten their hands on one; Pedro Chirivella of Valencia, who has so far only starred for the Spanish youth sides.

Chirivella, only 16, has already captained the Spain U-17 side a number of times, and according to Vavel Espana, he’s on his way from the Valencia youth ranks to Anfield, set to play for Liverpool’s U-19 side next season.

Pedro Chirivella

Chirivella is a central midfielder, often compared to Sergio Busquests but with more of an attacking flair and tendency, while some have called him Spain’s best youth prospect since Cesc Fabregas from nearly a decade ago. He’s set to follow the footsteps of young Spanish talents like Daniel Ayala and Suso who are also at Liverpool, continuing a link that hasn’t really justified itself for the club ever since the Rafa Benitez era.

Liverpool weren’t the only club interested in Chirivella, with Barcelona, Manchester City and others also interested in getting him over to their side, but it seems Valencia prefer that he doesn’t stay in Spain, while Chirivella and his family think that his best chances of succeeding are linked with a Liverpool transfer, instead of the foreign legions at Eastlands that are hard to breakthrough or the almost impossible competition players face when playing for Barcelona.

In 7 matches for the U-17 side, Chirivella has scored two goals, and while it may be a while before we’ll get to see him in action for any senior side, the next big tournament the Spanish U-17 side manage to reach (if it’s the next couple of years), Chirivella will surely be one of the more interesting prospects to follow in.
