With Chelsea on the look out for strikers, why not try to sign the best in the world? Zlatan Ibrahimovic isn’t sure he wants to continue to play in France for Paris Saint-Germain, and a reunion with his old manager isn’t out of the question.
According to the El Mundo Deportivo Jose Mourinho, now officially the manager of Chelsea, isn’t waiting to see how the transfer market develops. While already taking a look at Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic for the forward position, and possibly looking to sell Fernando Torres, Juan Mata and David Luiz, bringing over a player he coached for one year at Inter (scoring 25 goals and winning the Serie A) might actually be his first order of business.
Ibrahimovic had a huge season for PSG, scoring 35 goals (with 9 assists) in 46 matches, leading the team to the Ligue 1 title for only the third time in history, while continuing his long line of domestic league success. But with Carlo Ancelotti possibly leaving, and the usual bug of wanderings eating him from inside (never likes to stay in one place for too long), the 31 year old striker who hasn’t shown any signs of aging in terms of ability on the pitch, maybe his time at PSG is over.
There’s also the prize of possibly winning yet another title in a whole new league after already winning one in Italy, Spain, Netherlands and France. Ibrahimovic loves attention, and he’ll certainly get it at Stamford Bridge, although his chances to win the Champions League might not be better over there than they are at Paris, where the side reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League, getting knocked out by Barcelona despite not losing a match.
It cost PSG €20 million to bring him over, but his salary of €14 million a season might make his transfer possibly a little bit trickier, unless Chelsea do sell the players Mourinho doesn’t want on the team anymore.
Only one thing to remember, if Mourinho forgot – Once Zlatan Ibrahimovic is on the team, very similar to Cristiano Ronaldo, everything has to go through him. It’s not that terrible having a one-man team what that player is one of the best in the world, but it does have its downsides, with Ibra’s lack of UCL title or even final serving as an example.
