If there’s one club that loves to sign the wonderkid type and a few years later see them go off to a bigger and better club, it is Arsenal. Their next prodigy in line for the same future? Aleksandar Mitrović of Partizan Belgrade.

The Gazetta dello Sport are claiming that Arsenal have already signed the 18-year old striker from the Serbian champions, but other reports from Italy suggest that the negotiations are only underway, or about to begin very soon.

In any case, there’s no denying the youngster’s talent or the interest Arsenal have in him. Mitrović himself hinted at a potential move a few weeks ago on his twitter account, but that has since been removed and closed.

Born in Smederevo, the young striker has been with Partizan since the age of 11, getting the first taste of first-team senior football with Teleoptik, a farm-club for Partinzan who play in the second division. In 2012-2013 he played his first full season in the top flight in Serbia, helping Partizan win the league title, scoring 15 goals in 36 matches, drawing a lot of interest from around Europe for his talents.

He might not be the only young scoring talent to join Arsenal this summer, with Wenger trying to secure the arrival of Yaya Sanogo from Auxerre. Napoli, Porto, Benfica and Fiorentina have all been into the signing of Mitrović, but most signs point to Arsenal being the team that finishes on top in the race for the youngster, who has appeared three times for the Serbia U-21 side, scoring two goals in the process.

He is valued at €1.5 million, but will probably cost a little bit more, or at least have some future installments according to appearances, goals and international caps included in the deal which Arsenal hope won’t take too long to show positive effect on the team.
