Transfer Rumors 2013 – Arsenal Hoping to Finally Sign Gonzalo Higuain

With the news of Arsenal being able to afford quite a lot of new and expensive signings this summer, the eyes turn once again to Gonzalo Higuain, who isn’t happy with the situation he’s at with Real Madrid, and looking to join a Premier League side.

With Real since 2006 (joining from River for €12 million, Higuain hasn’t really been excited about the situation of being up for sale each summer, despite his impressive production in front of goal, scoring 111 goals in 209 matches over the last few seasons.

Arsenal haven’t been really pleased with their striker situation since Robin van Persie left; Olivier Giroud isn’t the kind to score more than 12-13 goals a season, while Theo Walcott might be a bit more adequate, but Arsene Wenger refuses to promise him a switch from the wing.

Higuain himself admitted he feels that playing for Arsenal and in the Premier League would suit him just fine, and knowing that the gunners have what it takes to match the £20 million (mot likely) transfer fee or his £130,000 per-week salary he made at Real Madrid since signing his most recent contract, that is supposed to keep him with the team until 2016.

According to the Mirror, Arsene Wenger met with both Higuain and his father in order to settle the final details of his personal terms before they complete the negotiations with Real Madrid, who don’t seem to be ready to put up much of a fight for the Argentine international, with 20 goals in 32 matches for the national team.

While Higuain isn’t the only player Arsenal are trying to sign, but most of them are youngsters and developing talents Wenger is hoping to secure very soon, while working away on the deals that are usually a bit more complicated to complete, and have more than one team in the way of getting them done.

Juventus are also into the signing of Higuain, but there’s a good chance that the money Arsenal are willing to offer is something the Italian champions can’t compete with.
