Transfer Rumors 2013 – Barcelona, Chelsea & Manchester United Trying to Sign Robert Lewandowski

Transfer Rumors 2013 – Barcelona, Chelsea & Manchester United Trying to Sign Robert Lewandowski

It seems Borussia Dortmund are the goldmine for transfer targets for big clubs this summer, but their crown jewel, Robert Lewandowski, is a hard man to sign. Because Dortmund don’t want to sell him, especially not to Bayern Munich, and because of the competition for him, as Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester United step up their efforts in an attempt to find a way and purchase him.

Dortmund have announced that despite all of the talk about Bayern Munich trying to take away another one of their top players, Lewandowski will not be sold to the German and European champions. They are rivals, and Dortmund see themselves, after everything they’ve achieved over the last three seasons, as direct competition. They weren’t able to prevent Mario Gotze from going there because of a release clause, but they’re doing everything in their power to keep Lewandowski on for at least one more season.

Robert Lewandowski

With his contract expiring in 2014, Dortmund are taking the risk of losing him for zero money, possibly even to Bayern Munich. But maybe this is all some sort of act in order to increase the competition, and with it the asking price for the Polish striker, scoring 66 goals in 96 matches over the last couple of seasons.

Robert Lewandowski will definitely not transfer to Bayern Munich in 2013. This is final. We have informed Robert and his advisors. The Bayern case is closed because there was no written offer. I am not saying he will definitely stay but he will certainly not be playing for Bayern in 2013. Everything else will be discussed with Robert and his advisers in the coming days. Our wish is for Robert to play for Borussia Dortmund next season.

This is what Hasn-Joachim Watzke told the press, which means Lewandowski is for sale, for the right price, and the right team. After it looked like a sure thing that Bayern will be the one to pick him up, Manchester United, and with them Barcelona (Already signing one very expensive forward) and Chelsea, a threat to about any expensive player in Europe now that Jose Mourinho is on board, are hoping to build up a decent enough offer for Dortmund to consider, and hopefully accept.

How much will he cost? Despite not having the best of bargaining leverage, Dortmund won’t accept anything less than €30 million, knowing that his performance against Real Madrid in the champions league semifinal has turned the heads of anyone who wasn’t interested up to that point. United with Alex Ferguson seemed like an excellent fit, but now things are different. At Barcelona, it might be intriguing, although playing next to Neymar and Lionel Messi means being less of a target man, and more of something else, while at Chelsea Lewandowski should feel the most comfortable, with the least amount of competition at the moment.
