The Henrikh Mkhitaryan situation seems to be getting more and more complicated by the minute. Shakhtar don’t know where he is, while the player himself has posted that the rumors about him & Liverpool aren’t true. Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund, tired of waiting for Christian Eriksen of Ajax, might make an offer for the Armenian player themselves.
For the past few weeks Liverpool looked to be in the lead for Mkhitaryan, who led the Ukrainian Premier League with 25 goals (and 10 assists) last season, leading Shakhtar to another title. The attacking midfielder seemed on his way to Anfield, with some reports placing him en route to a medical, with Liverpool about to complete a deal for £22 million.
According to Shakhtar, none of this is true. They expected to see Mkhitaryan in training, and announced he will be fined once he reports. Oh, and according to the club, they’ve not been approached by Liverpool regarding the player.
Meanwhile, Dortmund are trying to show they aren’t planning on becoming some sort of feeder club for the rest of Europe after the departure of Mario Gotze. Still, the incoming funds and the need for an attacking midfielder led most to believe an offer for Christian Eriksen of Ajax, probably the best player in the Dutch league, will fill that role. Eriksen, just so you know, has also been mentioned in relation to Liverpool.
But for now, the Eriksen transfer is stalling, even though he has a contract that last for only one more year. So Dortmund turn their attention to another young and very talented attacking midfielder, Mkhitaryan, and according to the Bild, will be making an offer worth €25 million very soon, or at least once he is found by his worried club.
