The first semifinal of the 2013 Confederations Cup with Brazil facing Uruguay is rapidly approaching, and if you don’t have a way to watch the match, we’re here to help.
The hosts of the tournament, somewhat of a tuneup for the 2014 World Cup, Brazil are off to a flying start, winning all three group stage matches. They’ve beaten Japan 3-0 in the opener, followed by a 2-0 win over Mexico and finally an even more impressive opponent in Italy, claiming a 4-2 victory and a perfect sweep of Group A.
Their top scorer and biggest star is Neymar, scoring three goals (one each match so far), followed by Fred and Jo, the two strikers who never play together, each scoring twice.
Uruguay finished second in Group B, rebounding after losing 1-2 to Spain in the opening match. They beat Nigeria three days later (2-1), setting themselves up for a top-two finish, and completed the job with an easy win over Tahiti, 8-0.
Their top scorer in the tournament is Abel Hernandez with four goals, all of them coming in the win over Tahiti, and he isn’t likely to start in the semifinal against Brazil.
The last time the two teams have met was in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers, Brazil beating Uruguay 4-0 in Montivideo.
