Transfer Rumors 2013 – Tottenham Trying to Sign Jesé Rodriguez From Real Madrid

Jese Rodriguez

Being one of the biggest start in the U-20 World Cup seems to be enough for Tottenham to try and get their hands on Jesé Rodriguez from Real Madrid, hoping that their usual lack of interest in promoting young players works in their favor.

Jesé, 20, has only two appearances for Real Madrid, both of them in 2011-2012, with Jose Mourinho not known for being too happy in letting young players slowly find their way into the first team. He has been a star for the Castilla side, but it has been his five goals in the tournament in Turkey that caught the eye of Spurs and other Premier League clubs.

There has been no approach, but Tottenham want to see how Real Madrid feel about the matter initially. In short – are Carlo Ancelotti and Zinedine Zidane planning on finding a place for the talented forward in the team next season (he usually plays on the left wing, where Cristiano Ronaldo plays), or is there an opening for a purchase.

He is signed until 2014, which means Real Madrid need to make their decision quickly: Re-signing him and probably shipping off on loan somewhere while there is no place for him on the first team squad, or trying to get as much as possible for him, with the player valued at around €11 million.

Rodriguez himself would like first team football and now, and according to reports in Spain, he prefers being purchased by a club than being loaned out again and again while Real Madrid don’t have room for him.

It seems that this season, more than ever, will be about youngsters trying to breakthrough into the Real Madrid lineup, with Alvaro Morata also labeled as a potential star striker, but it’s hard to say how much time on the field he’ll get if he remains with Real Madrid.
