Transfer Rumors 2013 – Chelsea or Manchester City Tried to Sign Stephan El Shaarawy

Going through a long goal drought has discouraged Stephan El Shaarawy from wanting to remain with AC Milan, who have also declared the young Italian forward as not for sale, rejecting one massive offer from a Premier League club, most likely Chelsea or Manchester City.

After El Shaarawy got back from the Confederations Cup, he discussed matters of finance, future, and football tactics with Galliani, and has decided he does not with to leave the club at the moment, despite a lot of interest coming from the Premier League, which would have upgraded him financially.

According to El Shaarawy, he’s a Milan fan and is happy with the money he’s making. His only worries were regarding his positioning on the field, but with Milan moving back to a 4-3-2-1 system, El Shaarawy will play as a supporting striker once more, and won’t feel wasted and slightly forgotten as a left winger.

There’s no doubt that the arrival of Mario Balotelli changed something in Milan, looking a lot more confident and strong once Italy’s number one striker arrived. It also changed something for the 20-year old El Shaarawy, who scored 15 league goals before the landing of Super Mario. And still, these ups and downs are normal for a young player, who didn’t stop working hard or leaving everything on the pitch because goals weren’t coming at their usual rate.

As for Chelsea, it’s looking like a frustrating summer so far. Galliani didn’t reveal the name of the club making the offer, allegedly over €30 million, but it’s not hard to narrow the options down. Chelsea are looking for a striker, but so far haven’t been successful in their attempts to sign Jovetic, Lewandowski, Cavani and now El Shaarawy.

Manchester City have turned their attention to Alvaro Negredo in the last few days, which might suggest that they were refused in another deal, which wouldn’t be too surprising to hear involved El Shaarawy.
