Things are heating up when it comes to the next team Nani might be playing for, as the next set of reports regarding the unsettled winger involve a inner-Premier League transfer to Tottenham.
According to the Corriere dello Sport, AS Roma aren’t alone when it comes to big clubs trying to have a go at the 26 year old winger, with Spurs, who have already made one big signing this summer (Paulinho for £17 million), also taking an interest in him.
Nani played in only 10 Premier League matches last season, as his selfishness on the pitch and behavior off of it lead to a falling out with Alex Ferguson, and turning from one of United’s best players into an unwanted one in a very short period of time.
Nani is usually deployed on the right wing, or at least he is at his best on that side, but for Tottenham, Aaron Lennon is guaranteed that spot. An arrival of Nani, who becomes a free agent at the end of this season, will mean the Portuguese player probably plays on the left side, while Gareth Bale continues playing in a more central role.
Galatasaray and Monaco are also interested in the player, but so far no approaches have been made, and it seems like David Moyes is still trying to get his bearings regarding the players he wants or doesn’t on the team, with speculations still swirling around the future of Wayne Rooney as well.
Nani has been with United since 2007, winning four league titles but being a major part in only two of them. He has scored 26 Premier League goals in 133 appearances, and was probably at his best during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons, although during the latter the deterioration in his status with the club, connected to both his ability on the pitch and the contract negotiations off of it, began.
