The rumors and whispers around Stevan Jovetić have been going on for months, with no answer given yet. Fiorentina fans have turned against him, while he wants to play for Juventus. Manchester City seemed close to signing him, but all of a sudden, Manchester United and Chelsea are also involved.
According to Sky Italia, after already agreeing with Fiorentina on a fee of €30 million and on a salary of £71,000 per week with the Montenegrin forward, the Premier League champions and the Europa League title holders have gotten involved, trying to make a last minute swoop for the player, who will certainly not be playing for La Viola next season from the looks of things.
The biggest losers in this case might be Arsenal, who were a team that were reportedly on the verge of signing the player for £23 million, but Jovetić seems to prefer other clubs – either Juventus, or more successful Premier League sides, who probably offer better payment as well.
Jose Mourinho has been looking at Jovetić for quite sometime, although he probably prefers a more classic target man to acquire, which so far hasn’t been working out so well for him, as Manchester City seem like the only one in the top 4 to be somewhat successful in their pursuit of big signings, adding Fernandinho and Jesus Navas this summer.
Juventus are the main destination for Jovetić, who grew up as a fan of the Bianconeri, but it seems that their inferiority when it comes to their ability to spend, especially after already adding Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente, denies them from competing in the race for Jovetić, not to mention Fiorentina, who have held a grudge against Juventus for the last three decades over a title match and Roberto Baggio, preferring to sell their star player to a club outside the Serie A.
