NBA Rumors – New York Knicks First in Line to Sign Metta World Peace

Metta World Peace vs Knicks

Despite using decoys such as the Los Angeles Clippers, China, Arena Football and retirement, Metta World Peace wants to play for the New York Knicks, who seem to have moved quicker than anyone once he cleared waivers.

After getting amnestied by the Los Angeles Lakers, Metta World Peace was mentioned as a candidate to only two teams: The Los Angeles Clippers, with big dreams of succeeding in the Western Conference and offering World Peace the luxury of not having to relocate, and the New York Knicks, his hometown and a team always hoping to recreate glory days in the Eastern conference.

But as people were mentioning possible destinations, Metta made sure none of the teams with actual cap space that could have claimed him off the waivers would do it, by talking about being done with the NBA, considering playing in China or even taking on Arena Football as his next challenge..

Making sure was quite clear to everyone. The Knicks waited till he cleared waivers, and met with the Small Forward, who loves to remind the world that he’s from New York. He averaged 12.4 points and 5.0 rebounds in 33.7 minutes per game for the Lakers last season, and despite being misunderstood off the court, still has quite an admirable work ethic, making him an excellent perimeter defender, still, on some nights.

Offensively, he’s about knocking down open three point shots, which happen quite a lot for the Knicks, who based their entire offensive philosophy last season on Anthony holding on to the ball in isolation, drawing defenders while Jason Kidd and Raymond Felton spread the ball to open shooters, like Steve Novak. Sometimes, you get J.R. Smith, who doesn’t really care how open he is.

With Metta World Peace on board (probably), the Knicks aren’t the team to beat in the East, but it gives them another valuable piece as they attempt to take the Carmelo Anthony another step forward, hoping to find themselves one stage further (Eastern semi finals last season) for a third consecutive season.
