Nike Doesn’t Know the Difference Between North and South Carolina

Panthers South Carolina

While the Carolina Panthers have always been about representing both Carolinas (or at least started out that way), it’s quite clear which state (North Carolina) they belong to while being based in Charlotte. However, Nike have been selling Panthers T-Shirts, with NC on them, but the wrong state mapped out on the front.

Les Hall from Charlotte alerted Scott Fowler from the Charlotte Observer about the mistake, which Nike have since responded to by taking it off their website. Hall was the Nike site when he spotted the T-shirt and ordered it (for $32 and got a confirmation email that the shirt would be delivered). He isn’t sure if it’s going to be the fixed version of it or the one displaying South Carolina on the front, obviously in line to become quite the collector’s item.

The Panthers did play in Clemson University in the past, but there’s no real affiliation between them and the Palmetto State. Trying to find the source of the problem, one might suggest that Indonesian children, 9 or 10 years old, working 12 hours in a factory, need to get a better map in order to avoid these mistakes in the future.
