These preseason tours in America with so many big clubs are bound to conjure an interesting plot line right before they end, as Real Madrid meet their former manager, Jose Mourinho, back with Chelsea, in the final of the International Champions Cup, with Cristiano Ronaldo and his up & down relationship with the Portuguese manager at the center of it all.

In fact, it seems like almost every player at Real Madrid has something he’s been harboring inside about Mourinho. A lot of it came out last season – Pepe, Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos as the more known cases, but there have been others who haven’t been too pleased with Mourinho’s scorched earth tactics, leaving no stone unturned as he knew his time with the club was up, and didn’t really care about upsetting everyone as he said his goodbyes.

His most recent jab at his former employers, where he more or less failed to deliver and live up to his expectations, was at Ronaldo himself. Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo seemed like a pair of best buddies for much of their time together at Real Madrid, but like many things, it went bad last season between them.

A fight in the dressing room (alleged), some shouting on the sidelines. Mourinho was Ronaldo’s biggest supporter in his attempts to win the Ballon d’Or, but at some point he started talking a little bit differently about the star player, mentioning that he doesn’t want to learn, listen or do what anyone else tells him to, especially if its criticism.

His latest? There’s only one real Ronaldo – The Brazilian Ronaldo, Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima who played at Barcelona when Bobby Robson was the manager there, and Jose Mourinho was his assistant.

Mourinho has a way of not mentioning someone and still offending him and letting everyone know about it. It’s obviously a dig at his former player, but Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t bite or get caught into a war of words the media is dying to have. He simply said that Mourinho’s comment isn’t worth replying to, and that he ‘doesn’t spit on the plate he eats on.’ Which is a polite way of saying that he doesn’t s&^% where he eats.

Tensions? There will probably be some, although with the friendly atmosphere of South Florida, it should be hot enough without anything going on between Chelsea and Real Madrid on the pitch itself. If the two teams will actually meet in the Champions League, things will probably be a little bit different.
