Arsenal FC Transfer Rumors – Getting Closter to Signing Luiz Gustavo

Luiz Gustavo 2013

With Luiz Gustavo still trying to decide where to take his talents, Arsenal have made an official bid for the player, hoping that Bayern Munich don’t make the negotiations too difficult, while the Brazilian actually chooses them over other offers he has.

According to SkySports, Arsenal have made an official offer worth £17.2 million, which is probably the price Bayern Munich are looking for in order to let the player go. It’s hard to think of Wolfsburg as a club who can actually afford that price, but the rumors coming from Germany continue to hint that Gustavo prefers staying in the Bundesliga instead of taking his chances with Arsenal.

Gustavo is currently with the Brazilian national team, but not being included in the squad for the German cup and league match indicates there isn’t really a place for him in the 2013-2014 version of Bayern Munich, packed with midfielders.

In order to keep his place on the national team (where he is a starting player) Gustavo needs to play, and that seems to be his number one ambition, and it’s less about the prestige of the club that is after him.

And yet, according to ESPNFC, Gustavo hasn’t ruled out joining Arsenal: I have heard about the Arsenal interest. It’s a big club we’re talking about here, so of course I’d like to play for them.

For the Gunners, this is yet another opportunity to show they’re serious about spending money this summer on quality players, something they’ve failed to do thus far, either losing in bidding wars or simply not getting involved in them.

While the Arsenal midfield is quite loaded with players, none of them are defensive midfielders, which means Gustavo, if he does arrive, should have the edge over other players in the hierarchy for the starting spot.
