There is no hiding the fact that Mamadou Sakho wants out of PSG after not seeing himself as a big part of the plans this season. The only question is where does he go, with the centre back holding offers from both Liverpool and Monaco, according to reports in France.
Le Parisien is reporting that the 23 year old, who sat on the bench and wasn’t used in the season opener for the champions has been asking to leave. He played 27 times in the league last season, but that was due to injuries to both Alex and Thiago Silva. Despite early rumors, Alex hasn’t left to Brazil, while Marquinhos has been added as well into the mix, leaving Sakho without a lot of chances to find himself in the lineup.
A 14-time international for the national side, Sakho is a player that deserves to be more than an ornament on the bench, and has been looking for an exit from Paris for quite some time. Liverpool have shown interest in the past, but it seems that with the transfer window deadline approaching, things might speed up on that front, only Monaco, with their unlimited ability to spend, are also in the mix.
Sakho’s agents have been holding talks with Liverpool for quite some time, and informal contact has been held with Moncao representatives as well. The only questions remaining are for how much PSG would be willing to sell him for, with Sakho being valued around £13 million, which seems like a price Liverpool can afford to get themselves a talented starting centre back, and if Sakho wants to play outside of France.
The player himself has been known to say a few times that he wants to play for a big club. The question is – what does he consider a big club, and if Liverpool fall into that category, or does the paying power of Monaco, eager to dethrone PSG from the top of Ligue 1, will be too much for him to resist.
