Liverpool FC Transfer Rumors – Trying to Sign Mamadou Sakho

Now that the Liverpool centre back situation is reaching a critical phase, there’s a chance they might start becoming a bit more aggressive in their pursuit of Mamadou Sakho, who doesn’t really have much of a future with PSG, and is trying is hardest in order to find himself a big club to play for by the end of the transfer window.

Liverpool might not be everyone’s idea of a big club these days, but they seem like the side most interested in the young French international, who has falled to fourth on the central defender depth chart in Paris, behind Thiago Silva, Alex and Marquinhos.

According to The Times, Liverpool have started talks with the player, although there’s obviously the club they actually need to handle as well. PSG are likely to ask for at least £13-14 million if not more for a player who captained the side during his teenage years and has been labeled as the centre back of the future for French football.

He has appeared 14 times for the national side and has almost 200 appearances for PSG before the age of 24, but in the age of the club being the biggest spenders in Europe, it seems that they don’t have room for home-grown talent, as good as it might be.

Liverpool aren’t the only side keeping their eyes on Sakho and possibly planning to step up their efforts. AS Roma, the club that sold Marquinhos to PSG, are also watching the development of the situation, even though everything they’ve done this summer indicates towards Roma being a selling club only, without any intention of spending big money for now. Monaco have also been mentioned in connection with Sakho, but haven’t actually made any official approach towards the player or his club.
