Quarterbacks have bad days from time to time, and Colin Kaepernick was certainly experiencing a nightmarish one as the Seattle Seahawks ran all over him and his team en route to their second consecutive win and asserting their dominance in the NFC West, for now.

Could this be the best team in the NFL? The Seahawks are certainly candidates for that meaningless honor, beating the San Francisco 49ers 29-3 and for the second straight season destroying their division rivals at CenturyLink Field.

The interesting stat to look at despite the Seahawks’ dominant win is Russell Wislon not doing too well under the severe weather conditions, finishing with 8-of-19 for 142 yards, one touchdown and an interception. At least he wasn’t Kaepernick-bad, as he followed up his amazing performance from last week by throwing three interceptions and not a single touchdown pass, with the 49ers getting only 207 yards of total offense.

I’m certainly not proud of the way that we played tonight or coached. It was not our finest hour. We have to bounce back. We have to bounce back in a big way.

It was as simple as that. The execution was poor, and so was the game plan. The confident defensive unit led by Richard Sherman was all over Kaepernick and his receivers, witn Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis combining for only nine receptions, as the Niners had the ball for only 23 minutes and managed only 12 first down. They converted only 25% of their third downs, which is a huge difference compared to the opening weekend against Green Bay.

Boldin was targeted for the first time only midway through the second quarter, and the second pass intended to him wasn’t there until somewhere in the fourth. The Seahawks sacked Kaepernick three times and forced him to step out of the pocket. He did finish with 87 yards on 9 carries, but the Seahawks preferred the Niners running the ball on them than picking them apart through the air. The put him under pressure on 13 of his 35, and Kaepernick was terrible under the pressure, finishing with a 1-of-7 for 14 yards when seeing the blitz coming.

The Seahawks didn’t do well in the air, but enjoyed excellent field positioning and were committed to running the ball, which is really their first option on most days. Marshawn Lynch, unlike last week, didn’t disappoint. He ran for 98 yards on 28 carries, scoring a couple of touchdowns, adding a third as a receiver, finishing with 3 receptions for 37 yards.

We are dedicated to running the ball and we are going to keep working until we really own it, and we don’t own the running right now like we can. We’ll get better at it.

Russell Wilson had his guys backing him this time in one of his weakest performances as a pro. The confidence and swagger oozing off of Richard Sherman was contagious, and the Seahawks played in an aggressive and dominating way throughout the game, enough to push the Seahawks on momentum and adrenaline through the less than perfect weather conditions.

Sherman, who had one of the interceptions that Kaepernick threw, reminded everyone when the game was over that it’s not wise to doubt his team. A lot of pundits and ignorant idiots thought we were gonna lose this game. Don’t doubt us.
