Plans for the January transfer window are already being made, and it seems Manchester United are still all about bringing in a left back, this time turning their focus to wonderkid Luke Shaw from Southampton.
Patrice Evra might not be too happy about the rumors that won’t go away for the last couple of seasons, but it’s hard to hide the fact that he’s no longer the sure-thing on the left side of defense as he once was, and United need to prepare for the day after him.
Fabio hasn’t been someone they trust to become their future left back, and Buttner who arrived last season has already been loaned out again. United went after Leighton Baines over the last couple of seasons, but failed to offer Everton enough money to get the arguably the best player at the position in the Premier League.
Pretty soon, maybe Luke Shaw will take over that spot. The 18-year old has already started three times for Southampton this season, who continue to bring out an incredible number of talented young players out of their youth system, as Shaw is obviously drawing comparisons to Gareth Bale, who also began his career at Southampton.
Shaw is valued at around £6-7 million by most, but unlike other youngsters they’ve sold in the past (Theo Walcott), he has put in quite a few Premier League appearances since joining the senior side, and will probably cost Manchester United and any other club that tries to sign him around double what he’s considered to be worth.
Arsenal will surely be in on the signing if United do make a public move for the player who isn’t too far from the day he makes his England debut. He has already appeared a few times for the U-21 side, but if he continues to develop and improve at an accelerated pace, the day of him playing for a bigger club and for the national team aren’t far away.
