Ferydoon Zandi Breaks His Leg in the Worst Possible Way

There’s no good way to get your leg broken, but Ferydoon Zandi of Al Ahli SC in Qatar suffered a terrible injury in his team’s match with Muaither S.C., which might be difficult enough to get over that it means the end of his career.

The 34 year old Iranian player, who spent most of his career in Germany and Cyprus (he’s actually born in Germany), winning him 29 caps with the national Iranian team (he also played for the U-21 Germany team), went in for a kick from just outside the box, but the ball ran a bit from under his feet, and he ended up kicking an opposing player.

Zandi hit the countering leg with too much force, resulting in his tibia literally snapping and bending at a 90 degree angle. The reaction from the players is quite extreme from the sounds coming from the pitch. Zandi is obviously out for the season; after 15 years of professional football, it might be the end of his career as well.
