Despite not being able to put his team closer to a spot in the playoffs, Camielo Sanvezzo did a wonderful service for the Vancouver Whitecaps by scoring a beautiful scissor kick goal in their 2-2 draw with the Portland Timbers, making it two for him in less than 3 minutes in a crazy finish to the Cascadia derby.
Sanvezzo scored two equalizers in the span of two minutes, as he brought back Vancouver on level terms in the 76th minute after Portland held the lead for just over half an hour. A minute after his equalizer, Portland were once again in the lead through Will Johnson. The hectic didn’t stop, and Sanvezzo saved his best for the second equalizer.
Darren Mattocks led the attack on the left wing and managed to make his way into the penalty box, delivering a cross that went too wide, but still made it to a teammate. Young-Pyo Lee took control of the ball, and devliered an accurate floater towards the Brazilian forward, who decided to claim his way into the headlines with what just might the best goal we’ve seen this season in the MLS, and probably anywhere else as well.
