The best team in the NFL against the absolute worst. The 5-0 Denver Broncos will take on the Jacksonville Jaguars, who are 0-5, in week 6 of the 2013 NFL season, in what might turn out to be the biggest blowout we’ve seen in the NFL for quite some time.

This has the feeling of a strong SEC team playing a FCS opponents. The Jags are 24th in the NFL in total defense, but the absolute worst in the league offensively, averaging only 250 yards per game, gaining only 58.4 yards on the ground while having plenty of issues at quarterback, be it Blaine Gabbert or Chad Henne doing the throwing.

The Broncos, on the other hand, have been flawless, at least offensively, up to this point this season. They did give up 48 points against the Dallas Cowboys, but that doesn’t matter when Peyton Manning throws for over 400 yards and the team scores 51, their second consecutive game of over 50 points, and no one is willing to bet against them scoring over 50 for three consecutive games, which would be a first in NFL history.

So even if some teams can put up a fight against the Broncos when it comes to scoring, the Jags aren’t that outfit. There’s also the human factor – Jack Del Rio is the Broncos’ defensive coordinator, and he has a reason or two to be extra aggressive against a team that just lost its best offensive lineman to injury.

Denver are averaging 489.8 yards per game, obviously through being a very pass heavy team, but also running for 116 yards each game. Peyton Manning has thrown only one interception this season. They have fumbled the ball six times this season, but other than that, they rarely give the ball to an opponent without kicking to them. They’ve punted only 15 times this season, tied with the Packers for the lowest in the NFL. The Jags? As expected, the worst offense in the league is keeping their punter busy, taking 37 so far this season, more than anyone else in the league.

The spread Vegas are giving this game is 28 points. Considering the Jags have lost by that or more twice over the last three weeks, giving up at least 34 points in each of those games, it’s going to be almost impossible for the Broncos not to be close to setting some NFL record with a shutout win, unless Peyton Manning actually gets to sit down at some point, with no need to risk him getting injured.
