Oakland Coliseum – From Baseball to Football Stadium

The city of Oakland doesn’t have the luxury of building too many stadiums for its sport teams, so sometimes the grounds crew has only 20 hours to convert the place from a Baseball stadium after an A’s game to a football stadium for the Oakland Raiders.

This incredible transformation is often used in Basketball/Hockey arenas, as NBA and NHL teams share a venue, as the seasons overlap, making it an even more complicated issue.

This year, the Coliseum in Oakland is also undergoing these changes (possibly not for much longer if the A’s get knocked out by the Tigers) with Oakland making the MLB playoffs, and after a Saturday night game the field had to be prepared for the Raiders hosting the San Diego Chargers on Sunday Night Football less than 24 hours later.

O.Co

The Raiders are doing decently so far this season, buoyed by possibly finally finding a quarterback to lay some future hopes on in Terrelle Pryor, leading the team to a 27-17 win over the Chargers in the game the crew had to speed up the transformation for.
