The declining form and injuries of Nemanja Vidic aren’t stopping teams from the rest of Europe to show interest in the Manchester United centre back, as both Juventus and Real Madrid are already planning making a move for the player, whose contract runs out at the end of the season.

At the moment, it’s unclear whether or not Manchester United are planning on giving the Serb a new contract. Vidic did have a promising start to the season, but with or without Rio Ferdinand, it’s clear that injuries and age have taken their toll on him, and he just doesn’t seem like the imposing centre back he once was, being too easy to beat in the air or with strength, something that rarely happened in the past.

Vidic has been with Manchester Untied since 2006, joining them from Spartak Moscow for what is considered an excellent price (£7 million). He has won five league titles and a Champions League trophy with the club, twice winning the Premier League player of the year award.

Like Manchester United, Real Madrid always seem to be on the lookout for new centre backs, although the demands are usually lessened from central defenders when it comes to playing outside the Premier League, which might make Vidic and ideal solution for Real’s defensive problems, or at least provide a quality addition to the rotation, not to mention for free.

At Juventus, it’s hard seeing Vidic doing better than the very well coordinated trio of Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci and Andrea Barzagli, but for rotation purposes and obviously providing adequate cover, Vidic coming in for free will do just fine.

If Manchester United do offer Vidic a new deal for one or two more years (he’s almost 32), he’ll turn down the interest from the Serie A and the Spanish La Liga. However, if David Moyes and the club keep taking their time about making a decision, United will lose a center piece of their last 7 years of success.
