Two teams severely hurt by injuries in Week 6 were the Dallas Cowboys, losing DeMarcus Ware and DeMarco Murray, and the Green Bay Packers, who lost James Jones and Randall Cobb, with the latter probably out for a very long time.

Coincidentally, both teams won their games, as the Cowboys overcame the Washington Redskins thanks to their special teams and especially Dwayne Harris, while the Packers enjoyed a big win over the Ravens in Baltimore, their first away win of the season.

But there wasn’t much time for celebrating. Both teams aren’t exactly doing extremely well this season; the Cowboys are 3-3, and owe their wins to a weak division and another soft opponents. The Packers have beaten the Lions and the Ravens, but have lost two close games to the Niners and the Bengals, and it’s going to be a tough race in the NFC North with the Bears and Lions doing well.

While James Jones’ injury isn’t serious and he might be even prepared to play for the Packers next Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, things are a bit more serious where Cobb is concerned, as early assumptions point to multiple weeks of absence, which can turn into two months. Cobb was hurt after a low tackle by Matt Elam, and according to reports coming from Wisconsin, Cobb has a fractured Fibula, keeping him out for six weeks at least.

There was a lot of anger among Packers personnel at Matt Elam for what they considered to be a dirty hit on Cobb, who was beating Elam who had no choice but to make it a low blow in order to stop the wide receiver. Aaron Rodgers immediately rushed into Elam’s face after the tackle, but there wasn’t anything illegal with it. The NFL actually prefers its players to tackle low. It might cause injuries, but not the kind that bring lawsuits with them.

As for the Cowboys, the Ware injury might not be too serious. He hasn’t missed a single NFL game since joining the team in 2005, and he isn’t planning on letting the pulled quadriceps prevent him from playing against the Eagles in a game for the top spot in the NFC East. However, he can’t be ruled out of the game, especially considering how badly he wants to keep his streak alive.

DeMarco Murray is suffering from an MCL sprain, and it adds to the long list of injuries he’s had since entering the NFL, missing games his rookie season due to a broken ankle and six more games last year due to a sprained foot. However, the MCL sprain shouldn’t be something that keeps him out for more than one game, and the Cowboys are hoping that they don’t have to use too much of Joseph Randle against the Eagles, even if Murray is unfit to play.
