It seems that Kaka is finding life a the San Siro quite comfortable, scoring a wonderful goal for AC Milan in their 1-1 draw with Lazio, but the second most successful club in European football history is going through one of it’s worst periods in quite some time, and the emergence of the Brazilian star isn’t enough to help them get out of this rut.
Milan have an M.O. during their lower seasons – an awful start, possibly a managerial change and a late season push that lands them in the Champions League. This year, they’re following that script so far with the awful start: Milan are only 10th after 10 league matches, winning only three times so far. Their draw against Lazio meant they’ve won only once in their last four matches, including two losses against Juventus and Parma.
What’s wrong? A lot of fingers are being pointed towards Masimilliano Allegri, but the manager is never to blame when it’s a big and steady decline for a number of years. While Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva were on the team, along with ‘old bunch’ that included Clarence Seedorf and Alessandro Nesta, Milan were still near or at the top (briefly) of the Serie A. But Silvio Berlusconi has stopped investing the necessary funds to run a successful football club in the Italian Serie A.
Mario Balotelli was brought at great expense last year, but the rest seems to be a patch up job of simply filling holes with whoever’s available. Kaka himself might be part of that equation, while Milan are hoping that they see more and more of his pre-Real Madrid ability, like his fantastic goal to kick things off against Lazio or his first half in the 1-1 draw with Barcelona a week ago in the Champions League.
It’s down to quality of players, and this blind following after Mario Balotelli, who is never too stable of a human being and player to rely on too much. True, Stephan El Shaarawy is injured, but even with the little Pharaoh, Milan’s depth and quality when compared with Juventus and Napoli or even Inter and Roma just seems to be lacking, and all the magical moments Kaka can conjure from time to time won’t be enough to make this season a huge success for Milan with the current crop of players.
