The group of death took another interesting twist with a big win for Arsenal in Dortmund thanks to an Aaron Ramsey goal, while Napoli joined them at the top of the table. Meanwhile, Barcelona had no problem dispatching of AC Milan at the Camp Nou,furthering the crisis for the Rossoneri.

Chelsea bounced back from their defeat in the Premier League with a 3-0 win over Schalke, grabbing the top spot in the group ahead of the Germans and Basel.

Group E

Chelsea get sole possession of the top spot in their group with a third consecutive win, beating Schalke 3-0 after an early and lucky goal from Samuel Eto’o, followed by another one from the Cameroonian and a third from Demba Ba. In Switzerland, Basel couldn’t overtake Schalke after only drawing 1-1 with Steaua, who led for most of the match after Federico Piovaccari scored the opening goal. Giovanni Sio scored a 90th minute equalizer.

Group F

Another twist in the group of death story, as Napoli beat Marseille 3-2 to keep the French team with 0 points (Napoli with 9). André Ayew scored a surprising opener, but was cancelled out by Gökhan Inler and Gonzalo Higuain. Florian Thauvin equalzied, but Higuain scored a dramatic winner. In Dortmund, Arsenal came away with a surprising win thanks to an Aaron Ramsey goal.

Group G

Atletico Madrid qualify to the round of 16 with an easy 4-0 win over Austria Wien, getting goals from Miranda, Raul Garcia, Filipe and Diego Costa, who also missed a penalty kick. Zenit and Porto ended their earlier meeting in a 1-1 draw; Lucho Gonzalez scored first, Hulk equalized quickly and then missed a penalty kick.

Group H

Ajax got their first win of the competition, beating Celtic after a beautiful team play led to Lasse Schøne scoring the only goal in the 1-0 win. Barcelona dominated as expected in the 3-1 win over AC Milan. Lionel Messi scored twice, and Sergio Busquets also got on the scoresheet, while it was Gerard Pique who scored an own goal in favor of Milan.
