It was going to take something bigger and better than the Charlotte Bobcats to take LeBron James out of the impressive scoring run he’s currently going on, scoring 30 points to lead the Miami Heat to a 97-81 win, winning for a third consecutive time and a sixth in their last seven games.

It was quite expected, with Miami winning for a 13th consecutive time against the 5-5 Bobcats. James didn’t seem tired or fatigued from his previous 39-point effort, putting on a similarly efficient and explosive display of shooting, scoring and running the game for Miami who are in some kind of personnel trouble at the moment.

Chris Bosh got into early foul trouble, limiting him to 16 minutes and 7 points; Mario Chalmers was suspended for the elbow he sent in to Dirk Nowitzki’s face; Dwyane Wade was having a bad game, playing only 23 minutes, scoring a pitiful 4 points; Ray Allen was still out with the flu.

Even though the last couple of seasons have proved more than anything that James needs the players around him to raise their game in order for the Miami Heat to succeed , that doesn’t apply to the lower places teams reside within in this league, which includes the Bobcats, playing without Al Jefferson.

James made 13-of-18 shots, adding 7 assists; he scored 20 of them in the first half, and is averaging 34 points over the last three games, proving he might be very right about the chances of him scoring 40-50 points, or in short more than anyone else in the league if he would just be a little bit more selfish, although no one is guaranteeing it would mean good things for the Heat as well.

Chris Bosh – I don’t know when the last time that has happened, But the reserves kept the lead at a nice distance. We were rooting for them and encouraging them because we need everybody — one through 15 — to not only raise their play but sustain it.

James didn’t need to make a late return to finish the game; the bench was good enough to handle things on its own. Miami scored 29 points in the final quarter, 23 coming from their bench players. Michael Beasley isn’t giving them consistency yet, but he had his second double digit scoring game in a week, bringing down 15 points, followed by Chris Andersen with 10 points, while Rashard Lewis (9) and Roger Mason (9 as well) filled in nicely for Allen’s absence and also that of Mike Miller, no longer with the team.

After the game, as Miami were quite pleased with another display of shooting (50.7% from the field, 40% from beyond the arc) and even their defense, statistically their strongest performance this season, it was mostly about Spoelstra and others praising LeBron James, forgetting to mention it was a rare rebounding battle win for the Heat, who are ranked last in the NBA when it comes to grabbing boards.

More than anything, it was his energy. When you see him attacking off the glass and pushing coast to coast, you know he feels good with his body and you know it sets a great tone for our team. He’s playing with great energy on both ends of the court.
