The match between Besiktas and Kasimpasa turned out to be one of the weirdest affairs in Turkey and possibly Europe this season, beginning with Ryan Donk using a second ball to stop a Besiktas counter attack, and later a home fan tripping Manuel Fernandes resulted in him being assaulted and stamped on by Hugo Almeida and Ramon Motta, both getting sent off.
Kasimpasa won the match 2-1, overturning an early goal by Almeida with second half strikes from Halil Colak and Ezequiel Scarione. But the focus on the match goes to the events that aren’t so football related, beginning with Ryan Donk picking up a ball and waiting for the right time to throw it at the ball actually being played with in order to stop a Besiktas attack inside the Kasimpasa box.
Unsportsmanlike? This goes beyond that, but he was only booked for that incident. Things turned quite ugly in the 80th minute, as another attack by Besiktas was stopped by a home fan who ran into the pitch and tripped Manuel Fernandes. The fan immediately fell to the ground and was halted/protected by the Kasimpasa players. Besiktas players corralled the event, with Hugo Almeida and Ramon trying to kick the fan on the ground.
This ended with red cards to both players and Besiktas drifting further away from the top spots, although it will not be a surprise to hear that Besiktas will be looking to overturn this result with the Turkish FA.
