Transfer Rumors – Manchester United, Chelsea & Arsenal Trying to Sign Andrea Ranocchia

Andrea Ranocchia

You can never have enough good centre backs, and it seems that almost everyone in the Premier League is looking for one. The most recent hot name? Andrea Ranocchia of Inter, who is struggling to find a place in the starting lineup, getting Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal to take up interest in the 25 year old Italian international.

Right now, according to rumors coming out of Italy, Ranocchia wants to stay at Inter and fight for his place on Mazzarri’s side, with the 2014 World Cup on his mind, hoping to find himself in the squad that goes to Brazil. However, a good offer from one of the bigger English clubs might change his mind.

Ranocchia arrived at Inter shortly after Jose Mourinho left the team to Real Madrid, but that doesn’t mean the 6’5 defender isn’t generating plenty of interest at Stamford Bridge, with their defensive problems showing almost every week, including in their most recent loss to Sunderland in the League Cup.

Arsenal are quite pleased with their situation, but Laurent Koscielny has picked up an injury while Thomas Vermaelen hasn’t really been himself, going back to last season, meaning that Arsene Wenger might need some improvement in that department in January.

Manchester United are filled with centre backs, but none of them seem to be satisfying for David Moyes, who keeps changing pairings. Even though there seems to be one that works better than the rest (Phil Jones – Jonny Evans), Moyes might be tempted to add another player into the mix, while possibly offloading one or two of his current players.

Ranocchia is signed at the San Siro until 2015, and is valued at £15 million. There’s a rumor going on in Italy that the new owner doesn’t want to spend any money before the club begins selling players and offloading the extra weight. Ranocchia, who has played 13 times this season for the team (5th in the Serie A) might be the first to go.
