For now, there is a new team on top of the Premier League: Liverpool, taking the top spot thanks to a comfortable home win over Cardiff, while Manchester City move to second after an away win that could have been a lot easier to achieve, beating Fulham in Craven Cottage.
Manchester United also turned the tide of recent results with a home (!!!) win, beating West Ham 3-1, which leaves the Hammers very close to the relegation zone.
Liverpool 3 Cardiff 1: For now, the best team in the Premier League, with the best player this season in Europe. Luis Suarez scored twice and added an assist to Raheem Sterling in an almost perfect first half against an opponent that didn’t make it easy to play. Jordon Mutch scored to make the scoreline more respectable.
Crystal Palace 0 Newcastle 3: It seems like the small run made by Crystal Palace after Toni Pulis arrived has come to an end, while Newcastle continue to dominate against almost everyone they meet. Yohan Cabaye scored first before Daniel Gabbidon helped with an own goal. Hatem Ben Arfa finished the match just before the final whistle.
Fulham 2 Manchester City 4: Manchester City managed to trun another away match into something quite complicated, but everything turned out for the best in the end. Yaya Toure and Vincent Kompany scored in the first half, but goals from Kieran Richardson and an own goal from Kompany (true howler) made it seem like another away gaffe from City. However, this team is turning things around, and goals from Jesus Navas and James Milner put them, for now, in second place.
Manchester United 3 West Ham 1: Finally a win at the Old Trafford, with Danny Welbeck and Ashley Young among the goal scorers, showing that their recent success isn’t just a one-match coincidence. Adnan Januzaj scored the second goal, and Carlton Cole hit one for the Hammers who find themselves in big trouble.
Stoke 2 Aston Villa 1: Villa can’t seem to get their groove back again, scoring a goal (which has been a problem this season), but fall at Stoke, enjoying an opening goal from Charlie Adam and a late winner from Peter Crouch, while Libor Kozak scored the temporary equalizer for Villa.
Sunderland 0 Norwich 0: A poor performance from both teams, not really helping their efforts of getting away from the bottom.
West Brom 1 Hull 1: A result Hull will be very happy with considering their away form, but disappointed because the late equalizer they conceded. Jake Livermore scored the opener in the first half; Matej Vydra saved a point for West Brom.
Southampton 2 Tottenham 3: Spurs get back on the winning track with Tim Sherwood in charge for the first time in the Premier League. The hero of the day was Emmanuel Adebayor, scoring twice to turn the result after Adam Lallana scored the opener and Rickie Lambert equalized in the second half.
