Manchester United Transfer Rumors – Trying to Sign Everton Ribeiro

Everton Ribeiro

It seems quite certain that Manchester United will make a signing or two during the January transfer window considering how poorly they did over the summer and their disappointing league performance so far. However, it’s not quite clear if Everton Ribeiro of Cruzeiro is the right player for them.

According to the Daily Starthe 24 year old Brazilian who can play both on the right wing and as an attacking midfielder has rejected an approach from Real Madrid in order to be available and play for his dream club, Manchester United.

Ribeiro still hasn’t appeared for the Brazilian national team, but he made a very strong case for himself by helping Cruzeiro to the championship, scoring 5 goals and adding 8 assists in the process.

He’s valued at £7 million, and according to the report, David Moyes would very much like to bring him over in order to give him a much better attacking presence on the right wing, usually occupied by the highlight inconsistent and mostly disappointing Antonio Valencia. Ribeiro can also play behind the striker(s), even though that position is usually filled by Wayne Rooney or Shinji Kagawa. However, from everything we’ve seen this season, there’s not too much of a future for the Japanese player at Old Trafford.

There are other positions Manchester United might be interested in improving: Adding a central midfielder to make up for the awful Marouane Fellaini signing, as that area is usually the weakest on the team in most matches. There’s also the option of trying to sign a full back that wouldn’t necessarily have to play with a natural winger on his flank, being capable of filling both defensive and attacking assignments. However, there aren’t that many full backs with those kind of capabilities out there, and even fewer who’d like to play for Manchester United.
