The fact that Manchester United need some outside help and soon is known to all. Whether or not they’ll actually make a move for someone this January and if it’ll be for Remy Cabella, the young Montpellier midfielder, remains to be seen.
According to Daily Mail (which means this all might be fiction) both Manchester United and Newcastle are interest in the 23-year old Frenchman, who has scored six goals and has added 5 assists so far this season in France.
Instead of who? Cabella is an attacking midfielder who can also play on the wings if necessary. Wayne Rooney is usually the man deployed behind the striker in optimal conditions for Manchester United, and there are also Shinji Kagawa and Adnan Januzaj who can fill that role. Is this really the player Moyes needs?
Manchester United need help in their midfield and probably in other areas as well. Moyes himself has said more than once that he isn’t too keen on spending money in January because the market doesn’t usually favor those looking to sign new players.
Montpellier are slightly cash strapped and won’t stand in the way of the 23-year old, who has been with them for the past five seasons, winning the title in 2012 and havign an excellent season last year, which was obviously not as successful for the club as everyone watched PSG stroll towards a league title.
Maybe the plan is for Cabella to play in a slightly more retreated role – perhaps the forward angle in a midfield trio. The same would go for Newcastle, who might already looking for someone to replace Yohan Cabaye who they feel won’t be staying with them for much longer. Whether Cabella is the man who can help Manchester United remains to be seen, but it won’t be surprising to find out he’s not even going to be signed by the.
